cPanel™ is a control panel used by millions of webhosts to enable their clients manage their own hosting accounts. It is an easy graphical user interface (GUI) with a categorised sections with specific functions. If you are one of our clients who have a website hosted with us, you might have esperienced cPanel interface already. This FAQs is being prepared for those webmasters who are very new to cPanel interpace and to help them get started with their new website.
If you have a hosting account with us, you might already own a primary domain name of your website. In order to access your cPanel control panel, please follow the following steps.
1. Type http://yourdomain.com:2082 in your browsers' address bar. Please note the "yourdomain" must be replaced by your actual domain name. You must also avoid prefix of "www" after "http://" in order to access the cPanel of your website. When you type the address in your address bar, the following screen may appear:

2. When you are asked for your username and password, please provide your credentials as provided by us in a Welcome E-mail during the activation of your account. If you provide correct credentials, you will see the following page. Please note that the cPanel theme of your web hsoting may differ than the screen shown in this FAQs since you can choose your own once you are in the cPanel.

3. You have, in general, 10 different section on your cPanel page which is categorised accordingto its functions and needs to mange your account. Please refer the section number which we have written in red with the following detailed graphics.
Section 1:

This section allows you to customize looks and themes of your cPanel Control Panel. You can also change your contact information here. If you are so new, you have a detailed tutorial both in video and quick guide to start your managment of account ucing cPanel.
Section 2:
Fig-3.2: E-mail Management Section
This has got all the features and functions you need to set up new e-mail account for your primary domain. You can manage you old accounts from here. If you have forgotten your password or if you need to change the quota of your mail box, you can do it all from here. If you are looking for instructions or setting details to set up a mail client for your e-mail, you can easily find helpful information in these settings.
Section 3:
Fig-3.3: File Management Section
This section enables you to manage your files online than the FTP program. You can edit files online, provided you know HTML language. Uploading a file is easy than ever. Create new FTP accounts delete the old ones that are no longer required for you. You can also control the session of FTP users on your account. Section4:

This section maintain all logs and record of your site. You can view your site's traffic and server errors by date. There is also a link where you can view information on latest visitors to your site.
Section 5:
Fig-3.5: Security Management Section All functions related to your account's security can be managed from this section. It enables you to protect hot link to your directory containing some important documents or images. You can ban IPs if some spammers use your site for their propagations. You also have options to protect your directories (web folders) with your own password. Section 6:

This is a section to manage your domains on your account. You can park a new domain, create or delete sub-domains (forum.yourdomain.com), redirect, and manage addon domains. Section 7:

Database is an important and core requirements for your dynamic website, no matter what type of website you plan to launch. There are two types of databases that are largely used in the web industry. This section enables you to create or delete new databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL. You can create or execute new queries through respective database management software like phpMyAdmin and phpPgAdmin. Section 8:

Fantastico DeLuxe, which is in this section enables you to choose and install softwares online on your account and sub-directories. Installation takes only few minutes and all required files will be copied to your chosen directory withconfigured database which can be run immediately. There are many award-winning Content Management Systems (CMS), Forum, e-commerce, live chat, blog softwares which can be installed with few clicks of your mouse!
Other section lile PHP Configuration, Site Software and CGI center allows you to view configuration and features of those respective software on the server that your account is hosted.
Section 9:
Fig-3.9: Advanced Function Setting Section
This is a section where you can access advanced function of your accounts. You can customize your Error Pages, manage image types and acccess the Apache Handlers of your server.
Section 10:
Fig-3.10: General Information on your hosting account This is a left-hand column which displays information of your hosting account and server including the webspace usage, monthly badnwidth transfer rate, number of sub-domains and addon domains and so forth. It is a quick statistics column which is handy tool to review your account and server. |
